Genetic counseling is a very specialized healthcare profession that provides evaluation of an individual or a family’s risk of a hereditary disease and detailed explanations about the results of a genetic test. Most genetic counseling programs only provide in person services in various healthcare institutions. There are only few tele genetic counseling programs where patients and patient families can request appointment to see a genetic counselor via a screen at anywhere anytime. Among the few tele genetic counseling programs, there are even fewer programs that specifically target individual and families whose first language is not English but Mandarin Chinese.
